Orchestra Hohnerklang (Germany)

Time
Live-Interview & Concert:

6:30 - 7:10 pm

The orchestra "HOHNERKLANG" from Trossingen/Württemberg, mainly with traditional instruments such as harmonicas and accordions, has a clear goal:

To present a successful mixture of classic, folk, pop and rock.

All the arrangements for this unique instrumentation come from the pen of conductor Hans-Günther Kölz. He has shaped the unmistakable "HOHNERKLANG - Sound". During the concerts, the orchestra's excellent soloists on harmonica, accordion and recorder impressively demonstrate how interesting the choice of music with these instruments can be - it is equally characterised by exciting rhythms and rousing melodies.

The orchestra's programme includes world-famous pieces such as the dreamlike "Cinema Paradiso" by Ennio Morricone and the rocky, fiery "Don't stop me now" by Queen. This is contrasted by works composed especially for the HOHNERKLANG by Hans-Günther Kölz, as well as works by Astor Piazzolla such as "Chiquillin de Bachin", the brilliant "Conga del Fuego Nuevo" by the Mexican composer Arturo Marquez, and fast-paced and dance-like themes from "Riverdance" or the big hit "Happy" by Pharrell Williams.

Founded as a pure harmonica orchestra in 1932, the orchestra is today a trendsetter in the entire harmonica scene and plays its way into the hearts of its audience at numerous engagements at home and abroad.
